Listen to a new song from Francie Cool.
Francie Cool has been on our radar for a while now. In addition to making an appearance on Z Tapes' dreamy split and releasing an incredible pop full-length, the Pennsylvania-based artist has released a number of intimate songs that together weave the perfect lo-fi canopy to hide beneath on dark, rainy days. Her newest track opens up with the line "I take off my clothes for you / even though I don't want to" and this sets the stage for an ominous mood that only gets more intense as the song progresses. "Ugly" is a hush song, one that is best listened to with headphones, as its most beautiful moments are hidden between soft acoustic chords, angelic croons, and humming white noise. Read about the track below and look out for Francie Cool's upcoming album Witch Music.
Francie Cool on "Ugly":
"The song was written around when I dated someone for the first time. Having gone through a very rough time in my life prior to this, dealing with loneliness and hopelessness, having someone like that in my life felt really odd to me. To be 100% honest, I wasn't really comfortable with most of what went on during that time, but they were all I had so I figured that if I just pushed through it would all be worth it. Looking back now, I can't really tell for sure, but oh well I guess. I feel pretty good right now, so I guess it didn't take too much of a toll on me!"
