Premiere: Tangerine - "Tiny Islands"

Watch a new video for Tangerine's infectious track "Tiny Islands".

I'm a fairly simple girl. All I want to do this summer is to run around in the sun, go swimming, and attend a few BBQs. This doesn't seem like a lot to ask for, but when you live in New York and work a 9 to 5, your options and time are pretty limited. I think my overwhelming yearning for these classic summer activities comes from attending sleepaway camp during my formative tween years. I still look back fondly on days spent wading through the murky camp lake and having a cookout every Sunday while cheesy eighties rock blared from the old speakers. If I could re-live those days, I would go to a bad ass ladies-only camp and songs like Tangerine's "Tiny Islands", would soundtrack our weekly BBQs and swim sessions.

If you're not familiar with Tangerine, they're a Seattle-based foursome made up of of sisters Marika and Miro along with with friends Toby and Ryan. "Tiny Islands" was originally on their 2014 EP, Behemoth!, but it just received the music video treatment. The video, which was shot on a 16mm camera by Emily Deering, is a perfect pairing with the wildly infectious track. In the first half, the crew can be found perusing through a record store, strolling around a dock, and making the occasional goofy face at the camera. Things get a little trippy when the setting is moved to a rowdy basement show, proving my theory that this is an A+ summer party jam. Check it out below and stay tuned for new music from Tangerine.

Tangerine on "Tiny Islands":

"This is the video for 'Tiny Islands', one of the songs off of our EP "Behemoth!" which we released independently last October. Directed by Emily Deering, we shot it over a couple of days on 16mm film. Everyone you see in the video is a close friend of ours. This is a song about running wild and being young and free. It's also a song about realizing your connection to someone is more shallow than you thought, and finding a perverse thrill in that. It's also a song about summer so we're happy to be releasing this video in June. We are currently in the studio with Jose Rohena Diaz (producer on Time To Go Home and No Regerts by Chastity Belt, Dehumanize by Dude York, and more) working on an un-named project. Expect new music in the near future!"
