Monday Mix: School Sux

These are the songs I listen to when I procrastinate.

For those of you who didn't already know – the editors (myself included) are finishing up our last year of college. I can't speak for everyone but I know that I'm really ready for this semester to end and even more so for graduation. In the last few weeks I've been feeling so burnt out and bored and unmotivated to do anything related to school. Some people call this "senioritis" but something about that word feels lazy so this is not a "senioritis" mix. I don't feel lazy but I do feel like I could be doing better things, like for example, living in my old apartment in Brooklyn, surviving on a pizza-diet, and writing a great novel without ever experiencing writer's block. A girl can dream?

Unfortunately instead I spend these days in Ithaca (it's really cold here) either fantasizing about that alternate reality, brainstorming witty tweets, or taking instagrams of our house cat. Basically anything to avoid the massive amount of work I should be doing. Hence the reason I made this "School Sux" mix. Ok, I just lied right there, there is no actual cohesive theme to the songs on this mix but I'm going to label it as such because it features some great girls (surprise, surprise) and has helped me feel a little more sane when on campus. I guess that would make this is a "I've-emotionally-and-mentally-checked-out-of-college-and-these-songs-are-cool" mix. You'll find a broad range on here: No Doubt, Screaming Females, The Vaselines, Cowabunga Babes, Mannequin Pussy, G A L P A L S, Peach Kelli Pop, Grass Widow, Bleached, Pens, Mika Miko, Bad Banana, and Turnip King.

* Best listened to on a college campus with ridiculously big headphones. Alternatively people with real jobs can listen to this too.
